Your wisdom teeth are a third set of molars that begin to grow when you’re in your teens. They are the last adult teeth to emerge. In many cases, however, there isn’t enough room for the wisdom teeth to grow, so they can become misaligned or even grow into the other molars, resulting in an impaction. If an examination reveals that your wisdom teeth are going to be misaligned, we will usually recommend having them extracted.
Because the wisdom teeth are extracted from below your gums, extraction is normally done in a surgical procedure. Incisions are made near each tooth, and the tooth is then extracted. The procedure is done under local anesthesia and sedation dentistry is provided to help you remain relaxed and calm during treatment.
We normally assess the development of the wisdom teeth during a dental examination. Contact us today to book an appointment.
